NES Foundation Training – Opportunity to Support Development of the National Assessment

NES are continuing to develop the assessment and selection process for applicants to Pharmacy Foundation Training in 2025. Specifically, we are looking to invite you to take part in an Interview as piloting of questions and scenarios to be used in the recruitment process is now underway. It is important that we have representation from a diverse group within Scotland when developing the national assessment for Foundation Trainig Year (FTY) recruitment.
Work Psychology Group, on behalf of NHS England and NHS Education for Scotland, will be conducting telephone and Microsoft Teams interviews to create realistic and relevant scenarios that can be used for Situational Judgement Test (SJT) questions. Interviewees will be asked to provide examples of scenarios or incidents that may occur in a community pharmacy setting and that relate to the attributes identified as being important for Pharmacy.
We are therefore seeking subject matter experts to take part in a telephone or Microsoft Teams interview. Interviews will last approximately 45 minutes, at a time agreed with yourself and the interviewer. The interviews will be conducted by trained Psychologists from the Work Psychology Group, who will work to turn your scenario examples into SJT items.
If you have experience in Foundation training recruitment and/or Foundation training, assistance from people such as yourselves is very important in this project and your input would be greatly valued. Please note that this opportunity does not include financial compensation, however you will not be required to create any scenarios after the interview has been completed.

We are pleased to announce that following the close of the nominations on Thursday 3rd of April 2025, Martin Green, who stood unopposed for the position of Chair of Community Pharmacy Scotland and James Semple, who also stood unopposed for the position of Vice Chair, have both accepted these appointments for the 2025-2028 term.
